The Pyrenees National Park is just 15km away with hiking and trekking for all abilities, with or without a guide.
The “Cirque de Gavarnie” , a UNESCO world heritage site, is 45km from Les Ruisseaux.
For a short walk, you can take the ‘Voie verte des gaves’ between Cauterets and Pierrefitte then as far as Lourdes which passes right in front of the house.
Climbing, canyoning, rafting, kayaking, caving, bungee jumping, paragliding, horseback riding are all nearby.
For mountain bikers there is the Bike Park in Cauterets with 1500m of downhill runs and a chairlift to take you back up.
For the less active, visit Lourdes, a 25 minute drive awaywith its famous basilica, the shrine and the fort or take the funicular up to the Pic de Jer for a spectacular view over the town. The caves of Betherram are not far, these are among the most beautiful caves in the world. The Pyrenees Animal Park is a 10-minute drive away. There you can see bears, otters, marmots and other mountain animals. At the Donjon des Aigles you will see a fantastic show with birds of prey.
If you feel more like relaxing, there are the Thermes de César in Cauterets, known for their respiratory benefits and rheumatic treatments, or you could just relax in the spa at the Thermes des Rochers.
